Badugi is the game of the future?

No I didn’t make a spelling error and it’s not some weird sport. Badugi is a triple draw lowball poker variant and it touted as being the "game of the future". I remember reading when I first started playing that Omaha was the game of the future, I think the author of the article called it "Hold em’s big brother". Now a game from the Far East (Korea to be exact) has arrived to challenge for the title of ‘game of the future’. Badugi is a game unlike any other poker game. A high hand is the quickest way to broke in Badugi.

Badugi is a lowball version of poker. What this means for anyone not familiar with the term 'lowball' is that the lowest hand wins. The best hand in Badugi is A234 but only if it's in different suits. That’s right, you do not want pairs, straights or any matching suits. The lower cards with different the suits the better.

Badugi starts with each player being dealt 4 cards and then you need to make the lowest possible hand over 3 draws.

You should start to see Badugi showing up in your favorite online poker site and even in your favorite poker room. If your poker room is in an area with a large Korean population you likely can already play Badugi in your local poker room.

That's all, I fold.
